Grant said it was rude that yesterday I wrote that I can't bear it when people ask for updates. But remember, I also wrote that I understand that people will ask and I try to be gracious about it.
The fact that I'm frustrated is not their fault.
The fact that they are the hundredth person to ask is also not their fault.
The fact that this process is taking so long is not their fault.
The fact that my life is upside down in the meantime is not their fault.
It's our own fault! We chose this journey. Sure, we didn't choose for things to take so long or be complicated, but we knew it was a possibility. And we chose it anyway.
I am so grateful to have so many people in our lives who are interested in us, who care about us, who are rooting for us. I truly am. And so I will continue to smile and answer as graciously as I can when we're asked for updates.
I only hope that soon we'll have a good one to share!
P.S. I experienced this last time we emigrated, when we moved from South Africa to England. I read back in my journals and there's one entry that says, "Don't ask me what's happening with our move to England because I'm sick of being asked about it so I don't want to talk about it!" and I'm like, that's not helpful to me now, I want to know what was going on at that stage! LOL
I'm exactly the same with the baby. Don't worry bout it.

Oh Jen. you write how you feel, and that is how you feel. Have to say I agree with you anyway..... Don't people think you'd be "singing from the rooftops" if you'd heard? :-D Like the one that REALLY erked me when I was having my children.... "Haven't you had that baby yet?" (even worse than the "when" question) Yeh! course I've had it - I've got a cushion stuck up my top so I remember how awful it is being asked!!! Doh! Grant: You sound like a real sweetie - seriously. But I bet you aren't being asked as many times as Jen? And better she vents on her blog? I hope that you get the news you are waiting for really soon. I feel for you all. Jude.x
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words. Jude, Grant probably gets asked more than I do, he gets it at work all the time! I've said I'll make him a big round badge to wear that says "NO DATE YET" so he can just point to it! He's just a sensitive soul who didn't want anyone's feelings to get hurt by my post :) And YES, we'll be singing from the rooftops when we have any news!
ReplyDeleteYeh...i thought it was mega rude, couldnt believe you posted it!
ReplyDeleteOh my word, no wonder Grant had to sort you out.
Hehehe......and you know the tone in which that was said.
Jen, its your blog, these are your feelings and you get to express them. Your life is crazy right now and im sure i can speak for others too when i say......we love you all no matter what.
Dont worry about us lot, you have enough on. xx
not rude at all and don't worry about the odd person who may think it is rude - they have no idea!
ReplyDeleteNo worries.. really.
