NZ update - Grant's file sent to HQ

Over the past few days I've been entering a funk. Yesterday was kind of a low ebb - I just felt so stressed out and emotional.

I'm so tired of living in limbo. I'm so tired of not knowing which country we'll be in in 6 months' time. I'm tired of not being able to move forward with my life.

Then, this morning, Grant came running upstairs to tell me, "It's a good day!" He finally heard back from his recruitment officer in New Zealand. She said:

"Thank you for your patience . I can gladly say that your file has been signed off and that you can look forward to receiving a provisional offer letter of employment from the Police National Headquarters that you can use to obtain Permanent Residency from Immigration New Zealand."

This is a huge step forward! We can now kind of project a timeline. Holding thumbs for spring / summer next year.

This is what I wore yesterday.

What I'm wearing today? A big smile.

What I wore to church yesterday

And I styled my hair differently because it's getting long and needs a cut but I'm trying to decide if I want to change the cut.

Kitchen tour

My cousin said my kitchen makes no sense to her, but of course it makes sense to me and how I use the space. And that is the whole entire point of organising - it doesn't need to fit anyone else's idea of what makes sense, it just has to be functional to how you use your things. Let me know if it makes sense to you. If not ... oh well, it works for me!

e.l.f. review and voucher code

Have you heard of e.l.f. cosmetics? It stands for Eyes Lips Face and their cosmetics are all priced at £1.50 except for their studio range which is £3.50 upwards.

What's not fair is that in the US the cosmetics are $1 each for the standard range. No fair!

Well, I'd been meaning to try e.l.f. products for a while so I decided to order some bits and review them here on my blog. I contacted their marketing department and asked if they would provide a discount code for you, my lovely readers, in case you decided to place an order with them after reading my reviews. They have happily agreed to do so, so read on for product reviews and the voucher code.

I've provided pictures from their site as well as my own photographs so that you can see the scale of the products in relation to my hand.

Lengthening And Volumising Mascara (Studio line) - £3.50

I like the look of this tube of mascara, but I do think the actual plastic looks a little cheap. Whatever, they have to keep their costs down, right? And what matters is what's inside.

When I opened the mascara I was surprised at how small the actual tube of product is, but for £3.50 I can't complain. It goes on smoothly with no clumps and has a definite lengthening effect. Stayed on all day.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

Earth & Water Mascara Duo in "Noire"
- £1.50

Photobucket

Photobucket

This is a nifty duo with one end containing waterproof mascara and the other end regular. I liked both the brushes and the formula of each type - they went on smoothly with no clumping and had a definite lengthening effect. They both stayed on all day. The waterproof one came off quite easily with my regular make-up remover wipes. Excellent value for the price.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

EDIT: Upon further use both of these mascaras have become very sticky and clumpy and I don't like them at all. Will not repurchase.

Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in "Black"
- £1.50

Photobucket

Unfortunately the pen I received was dry and did not work. I have sent it back for a refund.

Verdict: I do not know how this product performs

Daily Brush Cleaner (Studio line) - £3.50

Photobucket

Photobucket

I hate deep-cleaning my make-up brushes with shampoo and warm water so I wanted a daily cleanser to do quick cleans with. This cleanser works beautifully - I either spritz it onto the brush and then wipe off on a rag or else I spritz it directly onto the rag. It cleans the brushes and dries quickly leaving no reside.

I think the amount of product (250ml) for £3.50 is well worth it. I also like the way the bottle looks.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

Nail Polish In "Chocolate" - £1.50

Photobucket

Photobucket

This nail polish turned out to be darker than I was expecting, but that is what happens when you buy online. I still like it. It looks like dark chocolate. The brush is regular sized (not too narrow, and not one of the new wide style ones). It goes on smoothly, with two coats providing adequate coverage (although if you look closely it could probably benefit from three). I only put it on last night so I'm not sure how it wears. They have a nice range of colours and I think it's worth the price.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

All Over Cover Stick in "Ivory" - £1.50

Photobucket

I ordered this cover stick to use as a concealer and I chose the colour Ivory because I am fairly pale-skinned and I wanted a light colour for under-eye shadows. When it arrived I was disappointed with how yellow it was and I didn't even open it. Customer services were very prompt and helpful with letting me know how to return products and I have sent it back for a refund. I probably won't order another one as I can't be sure of the colour - which is the risk you take when ordering online and no fault of the company.

Verdict: I do not know how this product performs

Eyeliner Brush - £1.50

Photobucket

(Mine has discoloured from the dark shadow I use with it, but it still works great.)

Photobucket

This brush has very soft but sturdy bristles. I have used it for applying shadow eyeliner but prefer to use it to apply dark brown eyeshadow to my eyebrows - it's perfect for that. The quality is very good and I love the white handle. Definite value for money.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

Blushing, Bronzing & Blending Brush - £1.50

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I have some blush brushes and found that they were too big. I wanted an angled brush for more precision. This brush was slightly smaller and flatter than expected but it is exactly what I need! The bristles are soft and fairly loosely-packed (i.e. it's not dense) so it picks up less product and makes it much easier to build up your blush rather than put too much on by mistake and have to tone it down. I am very pleased with it. Value for money.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

Small Angled Brush (Studio line) - £3.50

Photobucket

Photobucket

I love and adore this brush! It is so small and fine with dense, soft bristles and an angled end. It is perfect for applying shadow eyeliner. I am very pleased with this purchase - definite value for money.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

Concealer Brush - £1.50

Photobucket

Photobucket

This brush is much smaller than I was expecting and I love it! It is just the right size to dot concealer on a spot or blemish or (in my case) along the shadow line beneath my eye baggage. The bristles are soft but firm and I love the white handle.

Verdict: I would re-purchase and I do recommend this product

Overall I think that e.l.f. products are fantastic value for money. Their delivery is super quick too - if you order before 4pm they send it out the next day. Standard delivery is £2.95 or free if you order over £30 worth.

e.l.f. have provided me with a voucher code for my UK readers! Order over £10 worth of products within the next two weeks and receive 10% off your order by typing in JEN10OFF at the checkout! Click here to visit e.l.f. and begin shopping.

Code expires 24 September at midnight so don't forget to order before then. I would love to know which products you buy if you want to post a comment!

Sorry, my US readers, this is just for my UK peeps - but I'd definitely check out eyeslipsface.com if you haven't already. With prices starting at $1, you don't need a discount code from me, now do you?
